Youth enjoy Connect conference

A youth group from Shady Grove Baptist Church attended the Connect 2010 Youth Conference in Gatlinburg, Tenn. Dec. 27-29.
The purpose of the conference was to help young people connect with God and, according to group leader Willie LaFavor, the conference was very successful. “I’m proud of our youth for taking advantage of this opportunity to get to know God better and I’m thankful to the church for providing this opportunity to our youth.
Guest speakers for the event were Jason McLeod, David Nasser, Jeffery Dean and Ryan Dobson. Featured on the program were Tobi Mac, 3RD Day and Jeremy Camp and Shane and Shane.
Attending the conference from Shady Grove were Patrick Doherty, Morgan Doherty, Mason Solomon, Hunter LaRoche, Regan LaRoche, Jared Callahan, Jada Callahan, Davey Vest, T.J. Braswell, Jessica Raynor, Andrew Terry, Matthew Terry, Rachel Terry, Dylan Woods, Lucas Puckett, Shane Parker, Jenna Locklear, Shay Terry and Jacob Fields. Chaperones were Beau and Summer Terry, Jim and Monica Doherty, and Willie LaFavor.
Amy and Michael Smith enjoyed a Christmas Eve celebration at Michael’s parents, Raymond and Martha Loosier. They also hosted a Christmas Day get-together at their home. Everyone enjoyed good food, fun and fellowship, they also had extra fun snowball battling.
Mildred and Richard Ploss enjoyed a Christmas gathering in Dothan with Richard’s daughter, Dawn and her three children, Zac, Jacob and Jessie. Earlier, they enjoyed doing some late Christmas shopping. On Christmas Eve all of Richard’s kids and grandkids came over to Dawn’s house for a Christmas get-together. Those enjoying the celebration were Richard’s oldest son, Bob and wife Felicia and son Phillip, Dawn and her three kids, Richard’s daughter Sarah and husband Josh and twins, Eli and Zeke, and also Richard’s baby daughter Liz and husband Tag.
On Saturday morning, they picked up Mildred’s oldest son, Dicky, from a trucking terminal and then traveled to Destin, Fla. and enjoyed Christmas with her two other sons, Roger and wife Melissa and children Colin and Abigayle and Andrew and Shaunta and two children, Lawson and Scotlyn.
