Mable Mitchell Maze
Funeral for Mable Mitchell Maze, 86, of Decatur will be Fri., Jan. 14, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Hugh Bohlin and Jim Smith officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Tabor Cemetery.
Mrs. Maze died Sat., Jan. 8, 2011, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Dec. 5, 1924, in Morgan County to C.C. Mitchell Sr. and Thelma Hopper Mitchell. She was a member of Cedar Ridge Baptist Church in Decatur since 2003 and a lifetime member of Gum Springs Baptist Church. She loved God, family, church and her community, always putting others first and never meeting a stranger. She taught Sunday school, Sunbeams and Vacation Bible School touching lives by introducing them to Christ. She was always the first to welcome new members to the community. She showed everyone the love of Jesus and to love others unconditionally. She always saw the best in people and prayed for everyone she knew. She will be greatly missed but loved forever in the hearts of everyone that knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Maze; her parents; a brother, C.C. Mitchell Jr. and his wife Nettie; a brother-in-law, Howard Anders; and a great-grandson, Josiah Thomas Johnson.
She is survived by three brothers, Obie Mitchell and wife Maxine of Delaware, Ohio, Bobby Mitchell and wife Rosemary of Glencoe, Calif. and Wesley Mitchell and wife Gail of Fairfield, Calif.; two sisters, Margie Anders of Hartselle and Linda Nicholson and husband Marvin of Arab; six daughters, Shirley Holman and husband Herman of Ardmore, Janice Holt and husband Layne of Elkmont, Edith Agner of Frankewing, Tenn., Ellen Nance, Violet Alexander and Annette Cannon, all of Decatur; a stepson, Spencer Maze of Winter Haven, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; numerous nephews and nieces; and many others she loved as her own.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, James Niles, Casey Agner, Corey Jones, Jacob Rogers and grandsons-in-law, Josh Johnson and LeNorris Crabb.
