Funeral for Irene M. Bennett, 88, of Decatur was Mon., Jan. 17, at 10 a.m. at Haverstock Funeral Home in Laporte, Ind. with the Rev. Hugh Smith officiating.
Burial was in Rolling Prairie Cemetery in Rolling Prairie, Ind.
Mrs. Bennett died Wed., Jan. 12, 2011, at Summerford Nursing Home in Falkville. She was born Jan. 18, 1922, in South Haven, Michigan, to Mary Jensen Pensinger and Loren J. Pensinger. She married Clarence J. Bennett on Jan. 17, 1945 in South Bend, Ind. She worked for American Home Foods for 20 years, etiring in 1987 and was a member of First FreeWill Baptist Church in Rolling Prairie, Ind. prior to moving in 1998 to Alabama to live with her daughter. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a son, Clarence “Jack” Bennett Jr.; three sisters, Virginia Gilbreath, Estelle Bosany and Grace Dreksler; and a brother, Robert Pensinger.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Weathers and husband Gordon of Reeds Spring, Missouri; three sons, Larry Bennett and wife Clara of Warsaw, Ind., Bruce Bennett and wife Beth of Greenwood, Ind. and Steve Bennett of Whiting, Ind.; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and six brothers, Harry Pensinger, Eugene Pensinger, George Pen-singer, Loren Pensinger, Laverne Pensinger and Glen Pensinger.
