New Center community loses beloved long-time member

Once again our community has been saddened by the loss of one of our long-time community members, Mrs. Edith Parker Maples.
Aunt Edith passed away Jan. 10, 2011, at her home at the age of 88. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Maples;, a son, J.T. Maples’ and a granddaughter, Christina “Sissy” Maples.
Christian love and sympathy is extended to her sons, Jimmy, Frankie, Avery and Larry; her daughters, Glendell Terry, Kathryn Monk and Tammy Whitten; her sister, Nina Brown; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren.
Christian love and sympathy is extended to Buddy and Mary Posey in he loss of Mary’s nephew, Billy “Bubba” Milam and the family and friends of Mrs. Mable Maze.
Growing up I remember people saying if a snow stays on the ground for three days, another snow will follow. Well, we had snow on the ground for more than a week after the last snowstorm, and I wonder if there will be another one soon.
Congratulations to Mike and Kris Carpenter on the birth of their daughter, Abbygail “Abby” Rhea Carpenter. She was born on Jan. 8 weighing five pounds and five ounces.
