Funeral for John L. Morgan, 78, of Danville was Monday, January 24, at 11 a.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Vest officiating.
Burial was in Upton’s Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Morgan died Saturday, January 22, 2011, at Parkway Medical Center. He was born October 20, 1932, in Lawrence County to Clarence Morgan and Mary Lou Nelms Morgan. He retired from Amoco Chemicals in Decatur. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his four grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Carl Morgan.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Geraldine Harp Morgan of Danville; a daughter, Patty Morrison and husband Garey of Trussville; a son, Timothy Morgan and wife Kim of Muscle Shoals; four grandsons, Grady Morrison and wife Jessica, John Patrick Morrison, Ross Morgan and wife Meredith and Reed Morgan; a great-granddaughter, Koi Morrison; a brother, Aldean Morgan of Falkville; and five sisters, Sue Kilpatrick, Mamie Parker, Birchie Hill, Bernice Kunkle and Diane Posey.
Pallbearers were his four grandsons, Billy Morris and Gary Templeton.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Rodney Harney, his staff and the nursing staff at Parkway Medical Center.
