Funeral for Melvin Grady Duskin, 81, will be Thursday, January 27, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Terry Nappier, Floyd Bradford and David Carroll officiating.
Burial will be in Falkville City Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 26, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Mr. Duskin died Monday, January 24, 2011, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born July 14, 1929, in Morgan County to Noah MacKenzie Duskin and Susie Wilson Duskin. He always had a smile on his face and a kind word for everyone and he loved gardening and working in his yard. His family meant everything to him, especially playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of Piney Grove Christian Church and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. He served in the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1952 in the U.S. Army 8th Infantry as a sergeant. He retired from Monsanto in 1985 after 31 years of service and worked with the Commission on Aging for 14 years after retiring.
He is survived by his wife, Zelda Hill Duskin; three daughters, JoAnn Duskin Forbes of Hessmer, La., Brenda Duskin Saladrigas of Gainesville, Ga. and Sherry Duskin Calvert of Hartselle; a brother, Tom Garner Duskin of Douglasville, Ga.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
