School plans near completion
Design work continues on the new Hartselle High School even though rain and snow has slowed progress on the first phase of site work.
“Architectural drawings are 90 percent complete,” Project Manager Brian Moore told Hartselle School Board members at their regular meeting Monday night. “We’re getting updates on pricing and tightening up the number before we put it out for bids. We also extended prebid qualifying and got three or four more bid prospects.”
Meanwhile, rain, snow and sub-freezing temperatures have slowed down site preparation work in recent days.
“The contractor has until April 25 to complete the work,” he pointed out. “It looks like we’re going to need all of those days. “
Bill Wallace, executive director of Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood—the architect—showed computer generated images of the interior of the school. He showed renderings of the main gymnasium, media center, cafeteria, auditorium and main entrance.
The same images were shown to the project’s interior committee the previous week with positive response, he pointed out.
