Priceville holds off Patriot comeback

Priceville held off a late Falkville comeback to win the Morgan County Tournament in the ninth grade division 38-34.

A 7-0 run gave the Bulldogs a 32-23 lead midway through the final stanza.

The Blue Devils rallied and cut the lead to 32-31 on two Cade Wilson free throws with less than a minute left.

After Tyler Charest pushed the lead back to 34-31 on free throws, Bulldog Ben Patterson came up with a loose ball and made a pair of free throws to ice the game.

Trevor Blackwood tried to make it interesting by banking in a 3-pointer with 1.1 seconds remaining, but it wasn’t enough.

Charest led the Bulldogs with 13 points while Jake Crow added 9 points. Patterson scored 6.

Travis Cole led all scorers with 20. Aaron Estes and Blackwood both added 5 each.
