Funeral for Harold Atchley, 81, of Decatur will be Wednesday, February 2, at 3 p.m. at Point Mallard Parkway Baptist Church with the Revs. Charles Smith and J.B. Snyder officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial will be in Burningtree Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 1, 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Mr. Atchley died Monday, January 31, 2011, at his residence. He was born March 30, 1929, in Morgan County to James Richard Atchley and Alice Smith Atchley. He was a member and deacon at Point Mallard Parkway Baptist Church and retired from Wolverine Tube.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jane Barber Atchley of Decatur; a son, Steve Atchley and wife Carol of Decatur; three daughters, Beverly Gordon of Pigeon Forge, Tenn, Patty Annerton and husband Tony of Hartselle and Benita Hillis and husband Steve of Decatur; nine grandchildren, Jason Atchley and wife Ashley of Tuscaloosa, Blake Atchley and wife Mary of Birmingham, Derek Annerton and wife Bess and Drew Atchley, all of Decatur, Stephen Gorden and wife Shanna of Littleton, CO., Randall Gorden and Samuel Gorden, both of Pigeon Forge, Tenn., Courtney Annerton of Florence and Katie Annerton of Hartselle; two great-grandchildren, Dixie Gorden and Travis Gorden; a brother, Douglas Atchley of Weaverville, N.C., and three sisters, Mary Watkins and Bernice Miller, both of Somerville and Juanita Duffey of Trinity.
Pallbearers will be grandsons along with nephew, Rusty Barber.
In lieu of flowers, make memorial contributions to Point Mallard Parkway Baptist Church Building Fund.
