Train, car collide at railroad crossing

A CSX freight train traveling south and a SUV traveling west on Hickory Street collided at approximately 7:45 a.m. in downtown Hartselle today.

The driver of the car was injured and was transported by ambulance to Hartselle Medical Center. The extent of injuries is not known at this time.

The vehicle was knocked approximately 40 feet from the point of impact and came to a stop at the foot of a high embankment.

Hartselle police are investigating the accident.
