Shady Grove youth participate in outreach project

The junior and senior youth of Shady Grove Baptist Church participated in a community outreach project recently. They divided up into seven teams and each team visited three families. They invited each family to attend the church’s Sunday evening casual service and left a bag of cookies, which were baked by church members. Participants in the project were: Carden Roden, Abby Campbell, Kristine Campbell, Summer McGuire, Sarah Logan, Shay Terry, Allison Duran, Jessica Raynor, Taylor Jones, Rachel Terry, Jenna Locklear, Morgan Doherty, Shaun Bolan, Patrick Turrentine, Nick Newell, Mason Solomon, Sydney Alred, Hunter LaRoche and Matthew Terry.
Special belated happy birthday wishes go out this week to Hannah Little, Michael Sapp and Keri Smith, all on Jan. 31.
I was saddened to learn that Charlie Louvin, a popular country music star, passed away at his home in Warttrace, Tenn. on Jan. 26. He was 83. Louvin joined the Grand Ole Opry in 1955 after serving in Korean War. He started singing on stage with his brother, Ira, at the age of eight. His last TV performance was taped with the Marty Stuart Show and aired Jan. 30. My sympathy and prayers go out to the Louvin family.

A monthly community meeting for Neel area residents will be held at Sweet Annie’s of Massey Town on Mon., Feb. 7, from 5 to 8 p.m. There will be music and refreshments.
