Austin gives Hartselle girls loss to end regular season
Hartselle’s Lady Tigers (8-13) mustered a strong first half battle against Austin’s Lady Black Bears (20-8) before faltering under heavy defensive pressure in the second half and losing 56-24 in their final regular season game at home Monday night.
The trailed by only four points, 9-13, at the end of the first period and were behind by 10, 19-29, at halftime. However, they faded quickly in the third period, scoring only one point and were outscored 13-4 in the final period.
Quanesha Burks paced the Lady Tiger sin scoring with 11 points. She also pulled down four rebounds and had two assists. Sarah Horner scored five points and had two steals and Kanesia Elliott had four points, two rebounds, an assist and three steals.
Austin’s Teosha Ray scored 11 points for the Lady Black Bears while Sheyene Turner, Delisa Madry and Lauren Lindsey each had eight points.
