Redstone receives recognition
Redstone Federal Credit Union has received recognition for its efforts in raising funds to help find a cure for type 1 diabetes.
The local chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) held its annual awards dinner at the Wynn Drive headquarters of Redstone Federal Credit Union on January 26. During the event, the Credit Union received a Presenting Sponsor Award – recognizing Redstone for its fundraising efforts of more than $14,000 for JDRF.
On October 24, friends and family members from around the Huntsville community gathered at the Valley Bend at Jones Farm Target Shopping Center to participate in the 2010 JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes. With more than 750 participants, the local chapter raised more than $142,000.
“Those who live in our community and are touched by type 1 diabetes have truly demonstrated their commitment to helping JDRF in its mission to find a cure for this disease,” said Joseph H. Newberry, President and CEO of Redstone Federal Credit Union and the 2010 Corporate Chair. “The same holds true to our dedicated staff at Redstone. I am very proud of them for their tremendous support of this worthy cause. We had nearly a dozen teams formed at the Credit Union, each involved in various fund-raising opportunities. Each team received a bronze level achievement award… recognizing their individual accomplishments. Whenever they are called upon, they go above and beyond to help. Everyone’s dedication in making the 2010 walk a success will contribute to JDRF’s world-wide efforts in finding a cure.”
