Funeral for C. Claude Morris, 71, of Hartselle will be Sunday, Feb. 20, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home.
Burial will be at Burningtree Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 19, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Mr. Morris died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, at his residence. He was born May 29, 1939, in Talladega. He received a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Jacksonville State where he was a lifetime member of the Alumni Association. He was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant from Alabama Military Academy and he received a Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Alabama where he was an active member of Tide Pride and a loyal fan of the Crimson Tide. He retired in 1996 from the State of Alabama Rehabilitation Services where he was supervisor of North Alabama. He provided many years of service as a member of the Decatur Lions Club, District 34-A where he served as District Governor from 1972 to 1973. He served on the Hartselle Utility Board, Hartselle Planning Commission and retired from Company D 279th Signal Battalion, Alabama National Guard in 1999. He was a member of First Baptist Church Hartselle and a life member of the National Guard Association of the United States and the Alabama Rehabilitation Association. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dallas and Louise Morris and a brother, William David Morris.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carolyn S. Morris of Hartselle; a son, Carey C. Morris, II of Atlanta, Ga.; two brothers, John A. Morris of Hartselle and Bill Morris of Northport; a sister, JoAnn Reese of Prattville; and his short-haired Chihuahua, Pete.
