Can’t spell Hartselle without ‘art’
When many think about Hartselle, the first thing that usually comes to mind is sports.
However, I would argue that the arts in Hartselle are just as important as sports are. If you look at how talented the people of Hartselle are, it’s truly amazing.
One of the best places to start is the Hartselle Fine Arts Center. Many cities the size of Hartselle don’t invest in creating a facility like this.
It’s great to have a place where you can host concerts, musicals and other performing arts in one place.
Just last month, we held an album release party for the Westbound Rangers and a production of “101 Dalmatians.”
The auditorium is such a great atmosphere and allows the artists to be close to the audience. It’s a first-class facility.
Speaking of that concert, we have two local musicians/singers represented – Mike Walker of the Westbound Rangers and Jamie Smyth, who opened the concert. They are just a small sampling of the musical talent of our area.
As many of you know, the hymn “Leaning on the Everlasting Arms” was written here.
We also have a number of artists and writers for our Celebration of the Arts edition later this month. In particular, I have interviewed Bob Harriman and Megan Graves, both of which are great artists.
I know Clif Knight has talked to many others about their art or writing.
Hartselle isn’t all about sports. Art is a huge part of our community.
