Danville starts 3-2 over first two weeks
Danville has started its baseball season 3-2 over the first two weeks of the season.
During the first week, the Hawks beat Boaz 8-4, lost to Guntersville 14-3 and defeated D.A.R. 9-6.
Against Boaz, Jacob Fields got the win. Dylan Woods had three hits and Jessie Posey had a double with two RBIs. Thomas Russell and Matt Vest had two singles each.
Against D.A.R., sophmore Tyler Fields, jacob’s brother, earned the win. Correy Gillies had two singles and a double. Evan Cleghorn also had a double. Russell had two RBIs and Posey added three RBIs.
During the second week, Danville defeated Sardis 6-0, and lost to Albertville 11-10.
Against Sardis, Jacob Fields threw a complete game shutout. He had 10 strikeouts and allowed only two hits. He also went 3-for-4 at the plate.
Dylan Woods had a RBI double in the fifth inning that put Danville on the board 1-0.
The next batter, Evan Cleghorn had an RBI single and scored on an error to put Danville up 3-0 at the time.
Posey also doubled and had an RBI.
Against Albertville, the Hawks had a 10-1 lead going into the bottom of the fifth.
Albertville then scored five in the fifth and five in the sixth to win.
Trey Jones had a double and two RBIs. Correy Gillies also had a double and two RBIs.
Matt Vest had two hits and three RBIs. Tom Russell had a triple and an RBI. Jacob Fields collected two hits.
