“Rather than mourn the loss of the flame, Let’s celebrate how brightly it burned.” His humor was ever present and never ending. Even in his darkest days, when his health was really failing, he could find things to laugh at and funny things to say. He will be remembered for many things, some sentimental, some comical, his generosity and his talent. He was a very talented graphic artist, well known and respected in the sign business. He was a 1963 graduate of MCHS and attended Athens State College before opening his first sign shop, Larry’s Signs, which he later sold. He is now the owner of Custom Signs by Larry Clemons in Hartselle. He loved elk hunting in Colorado with his friends and spending summers with his family and friends at Smith Lake.
He is survived by his wife; Linda Smith Clemons, a son; Brad Clemons and wife Molly of Bellevue, Wash.; a daughter; Lea Ann Garner and husband Brian of Caddo; a step-son; Jay Bell and wife Ronda of Priceville, a step-daughter; Nikki Bell of Huntsville, his mother; Grace Clemons of Hartselle, three sisters; Jean Kent of Hartselle, Joni James and husband Edward and Linda Tapscott , both of Orlando, Fla.; four grandchildren Charlie Clemons, Jack Clemons, Coleman Garner and Lauren Garner.
