Toney man facing drug charges in Morgan County
A Toney man is facing drug charges and child endangerment after an investigation by the Morgan County Drug Task Force, the Alabama Beverage Control drug unit and the Decatur Organ-ized Crime Unit.
Adam Tucker was arrested March 3 and charged with unlawful distribution of a controlled substance in the first degree and drug endangerment of a child. Tucker is being held in the Morgan County Jail under a $5,000 bond. Authorities also indicated that they are seeking enhancements on the charges because the incident occurred near Lacey’s Spring School.
According to a press release from the Morgan County Sheriff’s Depart-ment, undercover narcotics agents from ABC purchased heroin buys from Tucker in Lacey’s Springs community on March 3.
Morgan County Sheriffs’ K-9 unit conducted a traffic stop on Tuckers’ vehicle, and the K-9 indicated on the vehicle where the heroin had been kept.
Agents with the Morgan County Drug Task Force also stated that there was a small child in the vehicle while the purchase was being made. The child was turned over to the mother. The charge of Drug Endangerment of a Child was added. Among the items confiscated from the car was the marked buy money agents used to purchase the heroin.
“We are going to be making a larger appearance with law enforcement in the rural areas of our county,” said Morgan County Sheriff Ana Franklin. “I have listened to the citizens and concerns of Morgan County and that’s what we are going to try to fix. Sometimes you may not know we are there until its time to put the cuffs on.”
Franklin added that agents are starting to see more heroin due to people moving in from larger cities, where heroin is a more common drug that is abused.
