27-year-old charged with stabbing

A 27-year-old man is facing assault charges after stabbing a Falkville man.

Jonathan Griffin, 27, was charged with second-degree assault and is currently in the Morgan County Jail on a $5,000 bond.

According to a press release from the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department, the office received a 911 call from 238 Dabbs Road in Falkville. The release stated that the caller said “he had just killed someone.”

Upon arrival at the scene, deputies found Arwin Laney, 74, of 238 Dabbs Road had been stabbed and Griffin was found standing over the victim.

Laney received a stab wound to the right side of the neck. He was taken to Cullman Regional Hospital where he was later released.
