Six apply for BOE spot
Six Hartselle residents have applied for the position on the Hartselle Board of Education, which will come open in June, 2011.
All of the candidates will be interviewed at Monday’s work session of the Hartselle City Council, which begins at 7 p.m.
After the interviews are complete, the council will likely make a decision on who to appoint at its regular meeting on Tuesday.
“The council will be interviewing all of the candidates at the work session,” Tankersley said. “This is an important position in our community.”
Because the city is changing to an elected board in 2012, this board member will only serve 16 months.
Of those who applied, Jeff Gray, who is currently serving on the board of education, has applied for reappointment. In his application, Gray said he wanted to see the system finish the new high school while he is serving on the board.
Others seeking the position are Don Sanders, Danny Faulk, Randy Sparkman, Maggie Wallace and Franklin D. Turney.
