Softball picks up pair of wins
HHS 13, Brewer 3
Hartselle’s Lady Tigers continued to dominate area opponents as they crushed Brewer 13-3 in a road game on April 6.
Robinson paced the winners in hitting with a pair of doubles, a walk, three runs scored and an RBI. Golden recorded her fourth homer in a week and scored two runs; Bonner singled, walked and scored two runs; Bennich had a pair of singles, a walk, two RBIs and scored a run; Shadden had two singles and an RBI; and Emily Nix doubled, scored two runs and had two RBIs.
Faulk was the winning pitcher in the six-inning game. She allowed three runs on five hits while striking out two batters and walking one.
HHS 17, West Point 0
Hartselle’s Lady Tigers responded from back-to-back extra inning losses in the Bob Jones/Huntsville Hospital Softball Tournament by collecting 14 hits and blanking West Point 17-0 in an area game on the road April 5.
Golden paced her team at the plate with three hits, including two home runs, and five RBIs. Bonner doubled, singled and scored two runs; Gentle, Shadden and Hill each doubled and singled, Bennich had a run-scoring double and Meghan Stephenson added a pair of singles.
Abby McHugh was the winning pitcher. She allowed only one hit and struck out four batters in the three-inning game.
