Funeral for Arthur M. Oden, 85, of Somerville, was Saturday, April 9, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain William Simmons officiating.
Burial was in Rock Creek Cemetery.
Mr. Oden died Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at his residence. He was born Janury 21, 1926, in Morgan County to Wilburn Oscar “Bud” Oden and Mattie Lee McCarley Oden. He was a Navy WWII Veteran who fought in the Pacific at Iwo Jima. He retired from Columbus, Indiana Fire Department as a fireman and chief mechanic. He was an avid gardener, fisherman and hunter. He will be missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Polly Alice Oden; three sons, Arthur M. Oden II and wife Josephine of Norfolk, Virginia, Steven Oden and wife Charla of Rio Grand, Ohio and Scott Oden and wife Shannon of Somerville; two daughters, Sara Lee Neely and husband Chris of Union Grove and Carol DeFiore and husband Mike of Toney; three brothers, Graham Oden of Eva, Doug Oden of Somerville and Dean Oden of Huntsville; two sisters, Faye Johnson of Hartselle and Ruby Lenox of Union Hill; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Cody Martin, Trent Neely, Gerry Oden, Marc Oden, Eric Oden and Don Oden.
