Garbage pickup to be automated

Garbage service for the municipalities of Falkville, Priceville, Somerville, Eva and Trinity will  switch to uniform 96-gallon containers with automated pickup capability later this year, according to Ricky Brooks, director of Morgan County Environmental Services.
The Morgan County Commission gave its support to the move at its Tuesday meeting by agreeing to advertise for bids on needed equipment and trucks.
Brooks said he needs four cart tippers for existing trucks. A front-end dumpster truck , 3,300- 96-gallon containers and a 16-yard sideloader garbage pickup truck with duel steer.
Brooks said he anticipates it to take seven to eight months to get ready to begin the automated pickup service.
