PHS to host North Jackson Friday
With an unbeaten season against Class 4A, Area 13 opponents under their belts the Priceville Bulldogs are set as host team for the first round of the state baseball playoffs.
The Bulldogs will take on North Jackson, runner-up in Area 14, on Friday.
The first game of a doubleheader will start at 4:30 p.m. and the second game will be played at 6:30 p.m. A third game, if needed, will be Saturday at noon. The winner plays the victor of the Guntersville-East Lawrence series.
Priceville was 18-14 overall and 6-0 against area opponents before it played Lawrence County and Deshler on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs are coming off of a runner-up finish in the Gulf Coast Baseball Classic in Gulf Shores.
“We’re playing pretty well right now,” said head coach Shane Hopkins. “We had some injury issues earlier an that necessitated some position changes, but I think everyone has settled in now.
“I just hope we’re at our peak at the right time.”
