3 honored by chamber
Three people were honored Tuesday night at the Hartselle Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet for their service to the community.
Doug Moss received the E.R. Roberts Business and Civic Award. The Dr. Thomas M. Guyton Humanitarian Award was presented to Nancy Busby while the Ambassador of the Year Award was awarded to Dona Bonnett.
Moss was a surprised when he realized he would receive the Roberts award.
“I didn’t think anything about it when my youngest son decided to come to the banquet,” Moss said. “A lot of times, we’ll go out for dinner. My wife just invited him to come along. I didn’t realize that I would get the award until halfway through Bob’s (Francis) speech.”
Moss has been an active member of the community with chamber and city functions. He’s the president of Hartselle Rotary Club and volunteers his time and sound equipment during major events in the city.
“It’s just a great honor to receive this recognition,” Moss said.
Busby also didn’t expect to be recognized with the humanitarian award.
“I guess it’s payback for the things I’ve done,” Busby said. “I believe in ‘pay it forward.’ I never expect to receive anything back whenever I do something. I’m honored to be recognized.”
Being named Ambassador of the Year surprised Bonnett. She said she’s just happy to be a member of the team.
“There were a lot of deserving people for this award,” she said. “We have a great team of Ambassadors. You can’t do it without everyone working together.”
The Chamber also honored outgoing directors, Angie Brandon and Gary McCaig; incoming directors, Doug Chapman and Mark Waters; outgoing chairman, Todd Whatley; and incoming chairwoman Anna Wilson.
