Racking Horse Spring Celebration set for this week
The second largest racking horse show in the United States will celebrate its 40th anniversary when it kicks off a new show season at Celebration Arena in Priceville April 27-30.
The show will feature different classes and divisions of racking horses with entries expected from 25 states. Prize money totaling $21,000 will be up for grabs.
The competition begins each day at 6 p.m. On Friday night prior to announcing the grand champion, children are invited to participate in a “stick horse” class. This event allows children to bring their own stick horses for friendly competition in the arena. Every participant will receive a ribbon.
According to event organizers, one of the more popular classes is the speed racking class, where horses are judged on speed. Speed racking classes will be held on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
General admission for nightly shows April 27-29 is $6 Admission on April 30 is $10. Children under 12 and admitted free.
