Bulldogs lose to North Jackson
Priceville’s Bulldogs (19-17) were denied an opportunity to advance in the state baseball playoffs as they dropped a doubleheader to North Jackson, 10-3 and 7-1, at home on Friday.
The Bulldogs collected 10 hits in the first game but struggled at the plate with runners in scoring position.
“We had runners on base all night,” said head coach Shane Hopkins, “but we couldn’t drive in a run.
North Jackson opened the game by scoring four runs in the top of the first inning and was in control the rest of the way, with the help of two double plays. Andrew Starkey, Stephen Starkey and Allen Smithson each had a pair of hits for the Bulldogs.
In the second game, the Bulldogs managed only a couple of hits. Stephen Starkey led off the first inning with a double and scored on a single by Ryan Madewell.
The chiefs went up 2-1 in bottom of the first inning and added four runs in the sixth.
