City OKs hiring lifeguards, temps
The Hartselle City Council lifted its hiring freeze to hire temporary part-time employees for parks and recreation for this summer, including lifeguards and mowers.
Mayor Dwight Tankersley said the positions were in the budget for this year. The council did not set a limit for the number of employees who could be hired, but it was passed with stipulation that total salaries for the temporary workers would not exceed the budgeted total.
The hiring freeze is still in place for all other city positions. Any hirings must be approved by the city council.
