Morgan County added to disaster sites
The Federal Emergency Management Agency has designated Morgan County to receive assistance as part of Alabama’s federal disaster declaration.
In addition to Morgan County, Colbert and Winston counties were both added to the disaster declaration list, bringing the total number of counties designated for Individual Assistance to 31.
“This new declaration allows citizens in 31 Alabama counties the maximum financial assistance as they begin the process of recovering and rebuilding their lives,” said Gov. Robert Bentley. “I am committed to seeing FEMA add the additional counties that remain to our federal disaster declaration.”
Southeastern Morgan County including the community of Hulaco were devastated by an EF-4 tornado Wednesday.
Counties previously designated are Autauga, Bibb, Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Choctaw, Cullman, DeKalb, Elmore, Etowah, Fayette, Franklin, Greene, Hale, Jackson, Jefferson, Lawrence, Limestone Madison, Marengo, Marion, Marshall, Sumter, St. Clair, Tallapoosa, Tuscaloosa, Washington and Walker.
“We are excited to see more Alabamians get the assistance that they need and deserve,” said Art Faulkner, director of the Alabama Emergency Management Agency. “We will continue to work until all affected residents have been assisted.”
