Bentley awards grant to victims
A $408,379 grant awarded by Gov. Robert Bentley will help ensure that free professional assistance remains available to domestic violence victims in Morgan County.
Huntsville-based Crisis Services of North Alabama is using the funds to continue operating a satellite shelter in Morgan County to give victims assistance closer to home.
Along with an emergency shelter, the organization provides a 24-hour crisis line, counseling, legal aid, court advocacy and referrals to other community resources for assistance with housing, employment and other needs.
The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is administering the grant from funds made available by the U.S. Justice Department.
