Danville Volunteer Fire Department has been collecting supplies for those who were affected by the recent tornadoes. Until Friday, May 13, the department had a tractor-trailer parked on its parking lot to accept donations; however. it has since been removed due to the closing of storm relief centers. Department members have delivered some of the donations and will continue to take items to people as they move into homes and trailers. But no one is accepting clothes at this time. The department cooked three meals a day during the time that power was out and a number of people were fed at the fire station. Much of the food was donated out of people’s deep freezers. The department has also been cooking and sending food to Lawrence County and will continue to do that as long as there is a need.
