City pool cleared to open
Hartselle’s municipal swimming pool has been cleared to open as scheduled on Saturday, May 28, according to pool manager Lacy Garnett.
Clearance came Thursday after extensive repairs to the pool were completed and the Morgan County Health Department conducted a routine inspection of the facility.
“I’m pleased to report that we passed inspection and are ready to go,” said Garnett. “Everything is in good working order and we’re fully staffed for the summer season.
The pool will have an afternoon session from 1 to 6 p.m. and an evening session from 7 to 9 p.m.
Admission rates are as follows: (afternoon session) $5 for seven and up and $3 for six and under; (evening session) $3 for seven and up and $2 for six and under. An individual season pass is $65 and a family pass for as many as four family members is $175. $35 is added for each addition family member.
Garnett said the pool has been filled and the water temperature is 66 degrees.
“With warm days expected this weekend and next week next week, we should see the temperature rising to around 78 degrees by opening day.
Red cross swimming lessons are scheduled to start on June 6. Classes are being offered to infants and toddlers, pre-school children and children of ages six and above. Lessons will be taught in two-week increments from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Thursday. Openings are available in older children’s classes.
