Hartselle BOE Notes
At its regular meeting Tuesday, the Hartselle Board of Education approved the following action items:
• Approved the following out-of-state field trips for Hartselle High School Performers to travel to various cities in New Mexico on Feb. 2-5, Hartselle High School Ensemble to travel to Pigeon Forge, Tenn. on Dec. 2-4 and Hartselle High School volleyball team to travel to Murfreesboro, Tenn. on July 21-23.
• Approved revisions to Policy JBCA – Resident Students and to Policy JBCB – Nonresident Students.
• Approved employee lunch price to be raised to $2.50 from $2.25 for employees.
• Approved requests from Crestline Elementary and Hartselle Junior High Schools to dispose of old textbooks.
• Approved request to offer student insurance provided by Guarantee Life for the 2011-2012 school year.
• Approved the agreement with Community Action of Morgan County to supply meals for Hartselle Head Start for the 2011-2012 school year.
• Approved the job description for summer school course monitor.
• Approved 65 out-of-district students.
On personnel items, the Hartselle Board of Education took the following actions:
• Approved that the following positions be eliminated: dance team at Hartselle High – supplement; annual staff at Hartselle High – supplement, remediation/ACT prep at Hartselle High – supplement; dance team at Hartselle Junior High – supplement, three part-time child nutrition program positions, time-out aides and one instructional aide
• Approved to non-renew the following employees effective with the end of the 2010-2011 school year: Wendy Hale, instructional aide at Crestline Elementary; Opal Holsonback, part-time child nutrition program worker at Hartselle Junior High; Janice Parker, part-time child nutrition program worker at Hartselle Junior High School; and Sharon Sherman, part-time child nutrition program worker at Hartselle Junior High School.
• Approved the resignation of the following employees: Larry Bates, bus driver, effective May 26; Nanette Edde, girls soccer coach at Hartselle High, effective June 1;
Donna Legg-Battles, JV volleyball coach at Hartselle High, effective June 1; and Lacy Stancil, eighth grade math teacher at Hartselle Junior High, effective with the end of the 2010-2011 school year.
• Approved the employment of Lane Hampton as the certified teacher for the Extended School Year program, for the summer of 2011, for special need students.
• Approved the employment of Lisa Witherspoon as a teacher aide assistant for the Extended School Year program, for the summer of 2011, for special need students.
• Approved the employment of Tammy Shelton as a teacher aide assistant for the Extended School Year program, for the summer of 2011, for special need students.
• Approve the employment of Reagan Rhone for the position of English/social studies teacher at Hartselle High School for the 2011-2012 school year.
• Granted tenure to the following employees with the beginning of the 2011-2012 school year: Katie Davis, fourth grade teacher at F.E. Burleson Elementary; Amanda Key, sixth grade teacher at Hartselle Junior High School; Chris Wimberly, physical education teacher at Hartselle Junior High School; Karen Howell, special education teacher at Hartselle High School.
The Hartselle Board of Education approved the following transfers:
• Lisa Shelton be transferred from the position of 1st grade teacher at Crestline Elementary to 2nd grade teacher at Crestline Elementary
• Sonya Lett be transferred from the position of 1st grade teacher at Crestline Elementary to the position of kindergarten teacher at Crestline Elementary
• Casie Kimbrell be transferred from the position of kindergarten teacher at Crestline Elementary to the position of 4th grade teacher at Crestline Elementary
• Amy Shirey be transferred from the position of Pre-kindergarten teacher at Crestline Elementary to the position of kindergarten teacher at Crestline Elementary
• Jamie Haynes be transferred from the position of 4th grade teacher at Crestline Elementary to the position of 1st grade teacher at Crestline Elementary
• Denise Smyth be transferred from the position of special education resource teacher at F.E. Burleson Elementary to the position of special education pre-school teacher at Crestline Elementary.
• Leah Roden be transferred from the position of 7th grade English teacher to the position of 7th grade science teacher
• Bryant Whitlock be transferred from the position of 8th grade math teacher at Hartselle Junior High to the position of math teacher at Hartselle High School
• Tina Kimbrell be transferred from the position of math teacher at Hartselle High School to the position of 8th grade math teacher at Hartselle Junior High
• Judy Praytor be transferred from day nurse and day Healthcare Instructor at Hartselle High School to day Healthcare Instructor at Hartselle High and day Healthcare Instructor at Hartselle Junior High
• Leesia Johnson be transferred from the position as a special education teacher at Hartselle High School to a position as a special education teacher at F.E. Burleson Elementary School
• Cindy Childers be transferred from child nutrition program worker at Hartselle High School to child nutrition program worker at Hartselle Junior High School
• Dana Berry be transferred from an aide at Barkley Bridge Elementary to aide at Hartselle Junior High
• Wilsolene Cadman be transferred from the position as a psychometrist at the Central Office to the position as a guidance counselor/psychometrist at Hartselle Junior High School and the Central Office
• Christy Zuck be transferred from the position as a fourth grade teacher at Barkley Bridge Elementary to the position of fourth grade teacher at Crestline Elementary School
• Kelly Meadows be transferred from the position of third grade teacher at Barkley Bridge Elementary to the position of fourth grade teacher at Barkley Bridge Elementary.
