The all-star athlete is one of about 1,000 appointees who were chosen from approximately 10,000 applicants. He will report on June 23 for six weeks of basic training, after which he and other incoming freshmen will begin academic classes along with their military training. Holland plans to become a pilot and make a career of the military.

The Hollands moved to Texas from Hartselle after Hunter completed the fourth grade.
