HFD to purchase equipment
The Hartselle Fire Department will be purchasing extrication equipment and a high pressure breathing air system, thanks to federal grants.
The City Council approved a $33,538 bid from North American Fire Equipment Company to purchase the air system. Fire Chief Steve Shelton said at a previous council meeting that the system will be used to refill air bottles, which is something that cannot be done at this time.
This bid was the lowest bid received.
The council also approved a $29,065 bid from Heritage Fire to purchase a rescue extrication system.
Although this bid wasn’t the low bid, Shelton said the low bid of $23,931.99 from MES didn’t meet the required specifications while Heritage Fire met all of the specifications.
Shelton didn’t know when the fire department would receive the equipment from the companies.
