Hartselle woman accused of theft
A Hartselle woman is facing theft charges after being accused of cashing checks from a closed bank account earlier this year.
Julia Rose Brewer, 29, of 3326 Foote Road has been charged with second-degree theft. She is currently in the Morgan County Jail under a $2,500 bond.
According to a Decatur Police press release, Redstone Federal Union Corporate Security reported a theft on Feb. 22. The bank had apparently cashed numerous checks at separate branches in 5-day period from a Regions Bank account, which was later discovered to have been aclosed account.
The bank reported a loss in excess of $500. All checks were cashed through an active customer account at Redstone Federal Credit Union.
During the course of the investigation, police linked Brewer as a suspect in the case.
