Commission approves easement change
The Hartselle Planning Commission unanimously approved a request to remove an easement for a driveway from Heritage Heights subdivision.
Jeremy Griffith, city planner for Hartselle, said the easement was for Thomas and Rachel Ptak to build a driveway, but the driveway was never built. So, the developer asked the commission to remove the easement since the Ptaks are using another driveway instead of the easement.
Griffith said the city may consider deannexing the Ptak property, since their driveway doesn’t connect with a city road.
“They were annexed into the city with the understanding that they would build the driveway off a city road,” Griffith said. “Since that didn’t happen, the city might decide it cannot adequately provide services to the Ptaks residence.”
