Shelter has friend for you
Each week the Enquirer runs a photo of a dog and cat from the local animal shelter in hopes of finding them a home. Thanks to the support of the Morgan Farmer’s Co-Op for helping to sponsor this space many of the four legged little guys are able to find a family of their own. Getting them to pose for a picture is not always easy, but hopefully together, we will increase their chances for adoption.
This week alone there were at least 20 kittens ready to be adopted. Most of the kittens were very friendly and wanted someone to play with. Males, females, long hair, short hair, black, gray, yellow, tan, the choices were many. If you were looking for a kitten your biggest problem would be deciding which one or more you would want to take home with you.
Moving into the section where the dogs are located two chocolate dachshunds eagerly watched and wanted to have your attention. These two guys were brothers and have been raised together and are looking for a new home. Unfortunately, their previous owners were unable to care for them and had to give them up. They’re great little guys who have already been neutered and are ready to begin a new journey.
The dogs and cats mentioned above are just a few that are available to you. Whether you are looking for a puppy, adult dog, kitten or cat for you, for your child or someone else, please take the time to visit your local animal shelter. They may have just the pet you may have been looking for. Most of them just need someone to love and take care of them. Financially speaking, the adoption fees are very reasonable.
I know this because my family adopted a Boston terrier at the shelter last December and he has quickly become part of our family. In fact, he was already trained and is a great dog. We were looking for a dog that had grown out of the puppy stage and he is exactly what we had hoped for.
Just remember when you are ready to adopt a pet, give consideration to an animal from the shelter. Call or stop by the Morgan County Animal Shelter or another local shelter and see who is waiting for you to take home.
