Enquirer receives 4 first place awards at APA
The Hartselle Enquirer received four first place awards during the Alabama Press Association convention in Orange Beach this weekend.
The Enquirer staff received first place awards for Best Newspaper Website, Best Feature Story, Best Local Sports Column and Best Signature page.
The award-winning entry for best feature story was Todd Thompson’s story entitled “History takes flight” while the top entry for best sports column was Thompson’s “SNAP’s worthy namesake.
Jill Copeland also produced the best signature page, which was Halloween Coloring Contest.
The Enquirer also received the following second and third place awards:
• second place for Best Public Service on wet-dry issue.
• third place for Best Original/Creative Idea for “All New. All News.”
• third place for Best One-Time Special Section for “Inspired Health Care.”
• second place for Advertising Best Niche Publication for “Bread and Butter” and third place for Print Best Niche Publication.
• second place for Best Signature Page for “CANCER” page.
• second place for Best Single Ad 1/2 page or under black and white.
• third place for Best Local Sports Column for “Booth Saw Potential.”
• third place for best business story/column for “Our Loss, Cullman’s gain” by Leada Gore.
• third place for Best Sports Photo on “Wet and wild,” a photo from a cross country meet.
• second place for Best Sports Single Event Coverage on “Turf Wars.”
