Hettie Pittman Stewart
A graveside service for Hettie Pittman Stewart, 98, of Hartselle will be Tuesday, June 21, at 4 p.m. at Hartselle City Cemetery with Bros. Harold Thompson and J.T. Copeland officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 21, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Stewart died Saturday, June 18, 2011, at her residence. She was born July 22, 1912, in Georgia to Henry Hoyle Pittman and Laura Lovancy King Pittman. She was a lifelong Hartselle Merchant along with her husband, Charlie. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed yard work, especially raking leaves and picking up limbs. She was the oldest living member of First United Methodist Church of Hartselle and was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charlie Stewart; a great-granddaughter, Katie Walker Carroll; and a great-great-grandson, Charles Stewart Carroll.
She is survived by a daughter, Betty Jane Prince and husband Paul of Hartselle; five grandchildren, Anne Walker, Becky Tankersley and husband Joe Ed, Carolyn Prince and Charlie Prince, all of Hartselle and Mary Paul Hendry and husband Rob of Satellite Beach, Fla.; nine great-grandchildren, John David Blackwood, Kristen Green, Stewart Walker, Wesley Tankersley, Elizabeth Prince and Charle, Joshua and Campbell Hendry; and 10 great-great-grandchildren, Hayley, Payton, Natalie, Anna, Carly, Rachel, Baile, Eli, Dyland and Dalton.
Pallbearers will be Charlie Prince, Wesley Tankersley, John David Blackwood, Joe Ed Tankersley, Mark Roberts, Jimmy Robbins, Bobby Robbins, Harold Wayne Copeland and George Edward McDonald.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rob Hendry and Joshua Hendry.
Memorials may be made to the Gideons or First United Methodist Church of Hartselle.
