Flash from the past

Looking back in time, some prices that were found at the local department store in 1963.

Bed spreads – regular price $6.99, now $4.88. Electric blankets – $12.99, sale price $9.75.

Wool double blankets $3.99 sale price, regular $4.88.

A card of 80 bobby pins were $2.59.

The first ice cream party was given in the White House in 1812 by the First Lady, Dolly Madison.

Blackberry Pudding

1 small package vanilla instant pudding mix

2 cups milk

1/2 cup blackberries

Make pudding according to the package. Add blackberries and stir together well.

Peach Delight

1 can peach halves

1 package chocolate instant pudding mix

2 cups milk

Make pudding according to package instructions and spoon into peach halves.

City Hot Dogs

1 package all beef hot dogs

1/2 cup of sweet pickle relish

1/2 cut shredded cheese of your choice

1 package hot dog buns

Cook hot dogs.

Place each hot dog in a bun.

Put the relish and cheese on the hot dog.

Carrot Salad

1 cup shredded carrots

1/2 cup raisins

1/2 cup mayonnaise

Combine carrots, raisins and mayonnaise and spread between slices of bread.
