Priceville receives thumbs up on audit
A clean audit report for 2010 from certified public accountant Geremy Segars of Hartselle was approved by the Priceville Town Council at its regular meeting July 14.
Councilman Charles Black, chairman of the finance committee, said the audit showed that the town’s records are in good order and commended City Clerk Kelly Dean and other members of the office staff for their good work and assistance in providing the auditor with information requested during the auditing process.”
“We have not always been current with the audit and I’m proud to say that we’re now where we need to be,” Dean said.
Mayor Melvin Duran said his goal is to get the audit for 2011 started as soon as the fiscal year ends on Sept. 30.
In another matter, the council suspended the rules to give immediate consideration and voted unanimously to annex Michelle Cahill’s property at the corner of North Bethel and River Roads.
“I think it’s pretty good to have a city where people want to annex and be a part of it,” said Duran. “This is going to mean additional revenue for the city.”
