Ruth Hampton Lawrence

Funeral for Ruth Hampton Lawrence, 89, of Hartselle will be Wednesday, July 20, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Ray Halbrooks officiating.

Burial will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lawrence died Monday, July 18, 2011, at her daughter’s residence. She was born December 13, 1921, in Lawrence County to James Dennis Hampton and Mary Etha Hampton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion H. Lawrence, her parents, and a sister, Mabel Anders. She was an active member of Mt. Tabor Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher and choir member. She enjoyed her neighbors and doing community work.

She is survived by a son, Denny Lawrence and wife Cathy of Hartselle; a daughter, Sandra Vinzant and husband Kenneth of Hartselle; a sister, Edith Osborn of Hartselle; three grandchildren, Jason Vinzant, Craig Lawrence and Tiffany Johnson; and four great-grandchildren, Jaxson Lawrence, Michaela Johnson, Eli Lawrence and Perry Johnson.

Pallbearers will be Ben Johnson, Craig Lawrence, Jason Vinzant, Kenneth Vinzant, Gerald Yeager and Harold Johnson.
