Thomas Vincent “Tommy” Posey

Funeral for Thomas Vincent “Tommy” Posey, 65, of Decatur, will be Thursday, July 21, at 11 a.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Hal Daigre officiating.

Interment will be in Roselawn Mausoleum.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Posey died Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at his residence. He was born June 5, 1946, in Huntington, WV, to Marvin Posey and Freedus Atwood Posey. He was preceded in death by his father, and a brother, Michael Posey. He owned and operated Posey Produce. He was a member of the Baptist church and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and Alabama National Guard, 142nd Signal Battalion.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy Borden Posey of Decatur; two sons, Marty Posey and wife Jacqueline of Tanner and Thomas Posey II and wife Dawn of Maysville, KY; mother, Freedus Posey of Decatur; two sisters, Connie Watson of Decatur and Teresa Anderson and husband Chris of Moulton; and six grandchildren, Zach Posey and Haleigh Posey, both of Maysville, KY and Adam Chandler, Keith Chandler, Jacob Chandler and Alyssa Posey, all of Tanner.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and military personnel.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial donations be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
