Gray, Stephenson on state title team

Meaghan Gray, a former member of Hartselle High School’s softball team and Leah Stephenson, a current member of the same team, are headed to the 2011 Dixie Debs Softball World Series in Alexandria, La. as members of the Decatur Dixie Debs All-Stars.

Their team captured the State Dixie Tournament championship by defeating host Guntersville 5-1 on Sunday. They had earlier wins over Montgomery Gray and Guntersville.

The same team represented Alabama in the Dixie World Series in 2010 and 2009.

Gray is a pitcher and an infielder. She played for Northwest Shoals Community College in 2010 and will join the UNA Lady Lions in 2011. Stephenson is a junior at HHS and outfielder for the Lady Tigers.
