Pedestrian signals needed

The City of Hartselle looks like it will be getting pedestrian “Walk/Don’t Walk” signals on Alabama 36 in downtown Hartselle at the intersections of Sparkman Street and Sycamore/Hickory Street.

With the way the traffic signals are timed in downtown, it can be confusing for residents to know when to cross the street, especially because it is never green going both directions on Main Street. Thus, this has led to several close calls.

Fortunately, there have been no incidents at this time, but it’s only a matter of time before something happens. We appreciate the city leaders for finding another way to keep residents safe on the road.
