Funeral for Joe Alan Murphy, 47, of Hartselle will be Thurs. (today), Aug. 4, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Greg Alred and Wayne Penn officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery.

Mr. Murphy died Mon., Aug. 1, 2011, at UAB Hospital. He was born Feb. 21, 1964, in Morgan County to Joe Adlia Murphy and Carolyn Jean Makemson Murphy. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Emily Brooke Murphy.

He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and a 1982 graduate of Falkville High School. He loved to sing and watch sports.

He is survived by his wife Pamela Murphy of Hartselle; a son, Çaleb Murphy of Huntsville; his parents, Joe Adlia and Carolyn Jean Murphy of Hartselle; two brothers, Britt Murphy of Hartselle and Bart Murphy and wife Gin of Murphreesboro, Tenn.; andd 11 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Long, Caleb Murphy, Carl Holladay, Charles Lott, Britt Murphy and Bart Murphy.

Honorary pallbearers will be Myron Tapscott, Patrick Terry and Dewayne Spegal.
