Rodeo Roundup planned at Shady Grove Aug. 13
Shady Grove Baptist Church will host a Rodeo Roundup on Saturday, Aug. 13, from 12 noon until 7 p.m. Special guest will be Chance Hill from Mobile. He will demonstrate how to train a horse. Other activities will include a mechanical bull ride, music, steak sandwiches, egg toss and much more. There will be lots of fun for the entire family. Everyone is welcome.
Congratulations to Amy Fisher who is a proud grandmother of a new grandson named Kaiden Michael Irwin. Michael was born July 20 weighing eight pounds and eight ounces and measuring 19 and one-half inches long. He is also the grandson of Amy and Michael Smith and Kathy and Mike Irwin.
Members of Shady Grove Baptist Church are now collecting items for Operation Christmas Child, a shoebox ministry for children of needy families throughout the world. Items needed include T-shirts of all sizes, combs, brushes, washcloths, bandanas, hair accessories, soap, bath sponges, balls, jump ropes, jacks, pens, pencils, sharpeners, crayons, pencil bags, colored markers, notebooks, notebook paper and coloring books.
Danville High School has elected Tri-M officers for the 2011-2012 school year. They are Drew Nevins, president; Blake Anders, vice president; Alexis Culp, secretary; Jessee Herring, treasurer; and Lorrie Burgess, historian. Tri-M is an international music honor society for middle and junior high school students. The standards for membership include maintaining a B average in all academic classes along with an A average in music classes. Areas such as community services, leadership and character are also considered.
