Midnight storm caught many off guard
As a general rule a storm passing through at night will wake me up. But I must admit that the one that came through last Wednesday night didn’t disturb me too much. I did hear the thunder and saw the lightning flashing though my bedroom window but I just rolled over and went back to sleep.
I didn’t realize until I was on my way to work Thursday morning that there was also powerful winds with it and many trees were down and some people were left without power.
On Thursday afternoon, Javon Alldredge and Kaye Widener enjoyed shopping at Kindred Spirits, a new gift shop behind the Cracker Barrel in Athens. They have a large selection of handmade items including candles, decorating accessories for the home and also carry Willow Tree figurines.
Congratulations to Kara Ashlen Begeman, daughter of Greg and Teresa Begeman and Joshua Darrell Riffe who were married on Saturday afternoon, Aug. 6, at Somerville Baptist Church. We wish you many happy years together.
