The real beginning of the year
Class is ready to start once again for the 2011-2012 school year.
It seems like it was yesterday that we were wishing the Class of 2011 good luck, as they had just graduated from high school. That group is now either ready to start their college careers or are already in the workforce.
On Monday, some parents will see their children go into kindergarten or first grade. While this year’s senior class will be driving themselves to school to begin their final year in the Hartselle or Morgan County school systems.
Some students are ready to begin Junior High, while others are beginning high school as freshmen. Some teachers also will begin their teaching careers this fall.
I always remembered being excited and a little scared to begin each year, especially if you had a teacher that had a reputation of being tough or mean. What I always found out is that they weren’t as bad as their reputation made them out to be.
I think this is the reason why the fall seems like the beginning of the year instead of Jan. 1. Our fiscal year begins in October. Most of the programs on primetime TV begin their seasons in the fall. And, of course, we have football.
I would like to wish everyone good luck for the upcoming year. I hope it’s the best year of your life.
